Dublin has changed dramatically since Dedalus dived into the 40-Foot at Sandycove as Bloom scorched urine-scented kidneys while scalding the kettle for Molly, still in bed with all her yesses, before setting off for piercing love letters under the GPO and picking up lemon-scented soap at Sweny’s chemist on the corner of Westland Row. The Martello Tower may still stand and ring out with Mulligan’s shenanigans along with Davy Byrnes and those ever-hungry sea gulls on O’Connell Bridge but the sand is no longer the same grain on Sandymount strand, nor the air any longer filled with wax and rosewood and No. 7 Eccles Street has long since been demolished.

Issue 4 of The Storms, the printed journal of poetry, prose and visual art, is honoured to be supported by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and, as such, its theme is the city itself
